The leader of the People Power Party, Kwon Seong-dong, urged that the Supreme Court must deliver a final verdict by June 26 to restore public trust in the judiciary, regarding the trial of Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung related to the Public Official Election Act.
In a party strategy meeting, Representative Kwon stated that the so-called ‘6-3-3 principle’ of the Public Official Election Act trial, which had been notably ineffective only before Lee, should be restored.
He further pointed out that if Lee, who is undergoing multiple trials besides the election law case, is an upright political leader before the public, he should declare, “I will face all ongoing trials confidently, even if elected president.”
Moreover, he emphasized that the People Power Party proposes to the Democratic Party the adoption of a National Assembly resolution urging the Supreme Court to issue a final decision by June 26, to ensure societal stability and restore trust in the judiciary.
