Kweon Seong-dong: “The early presidential election should be an opportunity to judge Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party.”

**Early Presidential Election Curtain Rises: ‘Judgment on Lee Jae-myung’… Kwon Young-se “Constitutional Amendment Referendum on Election Day”**

Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, stated, “The upcoming early presidential election should be a judgment against Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party.”

During an emergency committee meeting at the National Assembly today (the 7th), Kwon Floor Leader mentioned, “While the president has been legally judged, the Democratic Party has taken no responsibility for the chaos they caused in state affairs.”

He further argued, “The Constitutional Court upheld the presidential impeachment while also criticizing the Democratic Party,” claiming, “The Democratic Party was the main culprit of state chaos.”

Kwon emphasized, “Stopping Lee Jae-myung’s forces is the starting point for normalizing the country,” and added, “The People Power Party is the most practical alternative capable of restraining the reckless actions of Lee Jae-myung’s faction.”

He insisted, “The most critical factor for victory is party unity and solidarity,” and earnestly requested, “Everyone within the party should refrain from excessive criticism such as betrayal or labeling others as extreme-right due to their respective stances and actions during the impeachment process.”

The leadership of the People Power Party urged that a constitutional amendment should also be pursued alongside this early presidential election.

Kwon Young-se, the head of the emergency committee, stated, “We will prepare a constitutional amendment that accurately reflects the will of the people and promote a plan to hold a national referendum on the day of the presidential election.”

This aligns with the suggestion by National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik to hold a constitutional amendment referendum on the presidential election day. The People Power Party has been preparing an amendment proposal, including a four-year presidency with the possibility of re-election, through its party’s amendment committee.
