Kim Eo-jun’s ‘assassination squad claims’… Democratic Party reaches tentative conclusion: “Low credibility”

**Reported to Lee Jae-myung**
On the 13th, Kim Eo-jun claimed at the Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee that an assassination squad targeting Han Dong-hoon and himself was activated.
An internal document from the Democratic Party’s National Defense Committee states, “If this was a pre-meditated operation, it should have occurred before martial law.”
The document was drafted the day after Kim’s claim and was also reported to Representative Lee Jae-myung.

Kim Eo-jun, appearing as a reference at the National Assembly’s Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee’s inquiry on the 13th, claimed he received a tip regarding the activation of an assassination squad targeting himself and People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon during martial law. However, he prefaced that he had not verified all the details and only disclosed that the source of the tip was a friendly foreign country with an embassy in Korea.

The claim also included that Han would be arrested and executed on the way, while the arrest and transport units for Cho Kuk, former leader of the National Innovation Party, and Kim would be attacked, with the plan to blame North Korea by using previously buried North Korean military uniforms.

An internal document from the Democratic Party analyzed Kim’s assertions as being embellished with considerable fiction by someone with limited knowledge and exploiting the characteristics of institutions with restricted information disclosure. It further argued that many of the claims were pretextual operations to justify martial law, which should have taken place before martial law was declared, yet none occurred before its proclamation.

The document is said to contain rebuttals to Kim’s detailed claims and was drafted on the 14th, the day after Kim’s revelations, and reported to Representative Lee Jae-myung.
