“I understand the political burden… With the inclusion of property taxes, more definite effects can be achieved.”
“The People Power Party has no right to criticize… The Yoon government has reduced supply to less than half.”
“If Kim Hyun-ji is adopted as a witness, there’s no reason to oppose appearing, limited to duties.”

On the 22nd, Jin Sung-joon, a member of the Democratic Party, mentioned the government’s October 15 real estate measures, stating that “if such strong financial measures do not stabilize the situation, tax measures should be used together,” emphasizing the need for property tax increases.
Appearing on CBS Radio’s Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show, Rep. Jin said, “I think employing tax measures alongside strong financial or demand management policies might have yielded more definite effects,” regarding the 10/15 policy.
The Democratic Party draws a line on the possibility of raising the property tax due to concerns it might act unfavorably in the upcoming local elections next year.
Although Rep. Jin understood the political burden, he noted, “Recently, there’s a tendency to focus on one profitable house among the property holdings, but for one household owning one house, there are strong protective measures in place in the tax system.” He argued this needs adjustment for equity.
Rep. Jin emphasized, “If we can’t control housing prices, it becomes a greater risk factor for elections,” saying local election preparation requires definitive housing price control.
He directly refuted the People’s Power Party’s criticism labeling the measures as a ‘real estate martial law.’ Jin pointed out, “During the three years of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, policies were implemented to boost house prices since they were falling, and they cut supply plans to less than half, ignoring the basis of supply.”
Regarding recent controversy over gap investment by high-ranking officials and legislators, Rep. Jin commented, “Everyone has their circumstances, but I don’t think it’s desirable.” He further stated, “One cannot simply criticize, saying ‘you own a house and talk about such policies.’ Regardless of homeownership status, we must all gather wisdom to navigate this challenging situation.”
Concerning housing supply, he mentioned, “Specific supply plans are being prepared through the Housing Stabilization Task Force,” and efforts are being made “to shorten the excessively lengthy housing permit process as much as possible to expedite supply timing.”
He further stressed that public initiatives should focus on supplying affordable housing through various methods such as land leasing, share accumulation, and profit-sharing housing.
In relation to the controversy over Kim Hyun-ji from the presidential office being called as a witness, Rep. Jin stated, “The principle is to attend and respond if selected as a witness by the National Assembly.” He added, “There’s no objection if inquiries are limited to job-related matters and not a political offensive.”
