Jeon Kwang-hoon’s ‘Presidential Run’… Park Jie-won: “Most Welcoming, Applause”

Pastor Jun Kwang-hoon of the Sarang Jeil Church announced his candidacy for the presidential election at a rally, which Democratic Party lawmaker Park Ji-won commented on, calling it “the most welcome news.” On his Facebook page, Park shared the news of Pastor Jun’s candidacy, humorously expressing his delight and inviting the public to celebrate.

Pastor Jun made his candidacy announcement during the “4·19 Gwanghwamun Revolutionary National Assembly,” organized by his group over the past weekend. He declared his intention to dismantle institutions like the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials and the Central Election Commission, as well as to reform the Constitutional Court and dissolve the National Assembly, claiming he is the only person capable of such tasks.

Park Ji-won also highlighted that Jun Kwang-hoon is promoting himself as a candidate of the Liberty Unification Party, with Yoon Seok-youl, the former president, being referred to as member No. 1 of the party.

Meanwhile, within the People’s Power Party (the conservative opposition), concerns are rising about the potential division of conservative votes, as Democratic candidate Lee Jae-myung continues to run unopposed within his party. Calls are growing within the party to distance themselves from former President Yoon. Some candidates openly demand Yoon’s departure from the party, arguing that defending a former president compromises the party’s credibility. However, some figures, particularly those who opposed Yoon’s impeachment, remain silent or refuse these calls for departure.
