Handonghun: “Conflicts over presenting alternative healthcare reform options? A wasteful frame”

Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the main opposition People Power Party, said on the 29th, “There is no room for partisan conflict in health care reform, it is a luxury.” Han made the remarks during a top committee meeting at the National Assembly on that morning. Han stated, “I am well aware of the high level of concern and worry among the public regarding healthcare reform” and emphasized, “I believe healthcare reform is absolutely necessary and the driving force behind it is the people.” He continued by highlighting the importance of listening to and responding to the public’s concerns and anxieties during the process of healthcare reform, stating that it is a significant national task. Han also emphasized the need for alternatives and mediation in addressing serious issues in emergency rooms and operating rooms, underlining the importance of effective alternatives in critical situations. Han presented his own alternative approach, emphasizing that there could be numerous other alternatives as well. He rejected the framing of his alternative proposal as a partisan conflict, stating that safeguarding the lives and health of the people is an absolute priority. Han expressed his hope for the government and the party to reach a favorable conclusion by prioritizing the lives and health of the people and gaining public empathy.
