**”The Unification Church Gate is already open… All politicians receiving money from the Unification Church must be punished and expelled.”**
Han Dong-hoon, former leader of the People Power Party, criticized the mention of dissolving religious groups by President Lee Jae-myung, describing it as a “public threat saying ‘if you reveal the money we gave you, you will be killed.'”
In a Facebook post, former leader Han stated, “The Unification Church is making a vulgar public threat to dissolve any group that reveals the money given to Lee Jae-myung or the Democratic Party in the upcoming trial.”
He further commented, “The President making a public threat, on the day before the trial where the Unification Church supposedly planned to reveal the money given to the Democratic Party, as if saying ‘reveal the money we gave and you’ll die,’ looks like a mafia movie.” He added, “Instead of making such blatant nonsense, we should use this opportunity to punish and expel all the corrupt politicians receiving money from the Unification Church, regardless of party or faction.”
He also noted, “The Unification Church Gate is already open, and the more Lee Jae-myung acts like this out of guilt, the bigger it becomes.”
Meanwhile, President Lee continued to raise the issue of dissolving religious organizations in the Cabinet meeting, as he did the previous week. He instructed Law Revision Department Chief Cho Won-chul to consider dissolution if a legal entity engages in blameworthy actions that violate the Constitution and laws, stating, “Have you looked into the measures to dissolve religious organizations involved in politics and illegal activities with illicit funds?”
Previously, during a Cabinet meeting on the 2nd, President Lee had ordered an examination of the matter, stating, “There have been cases where religious foundations systematically and organizationally interfered in politics, violating the principle of separation of church and state,” and noted, “It seems Japan has issued dissolution orders for similar cases.”
