The Democratic Party’s approval rating fell for the fourth consecutive week, dropping to 42.2%, while the People Power Party rose for the fourth consecutive week to 40.8%. According to a poll conducted by Realmeter on January 9-10 with 1,006 voters aged 18 and over, the Democratic Party’s rating decreased by 3.0 percentage points from the previous week. During the same period, the People Power Party’s rating increased by 6.4 percentage points, marking its return to the 40% range for the first time in about six months.
The gap between the Democratic Party and the People Power Party has narrowed to 1.4 percentage points, the closest it has been in 16 weeks since September. The Progressive Party’s rating remained unchanged at 4.8%, the Reformist Party’s rating fell by 0.7 percentage points to 2.4%, and the Progressive Party’s rating increased by 0.1 percentage points to 1.2%. Other parties saw a slight increase to 2.1%, while the percentage of non-affiliated voters decreased by 3.0 percentage points to 6.6%.
Regarding the preferred ruling power for the next presidential election, support for a change in government led by the opposition dropped by 5.6 percentage points to 52.9%. Support for the extension of the current ruling party’s government increased by 6.4 percentage points to 41.2%, narrowing the previous gap of nearly double to 11.8 percentage points.
Due to the impeachment bill, polling on President Yoon Suk-yeol’s performance will be suspended until the Constitutional Court’s decision. Polling will resume only if the impeachment judgment is dismissed and the president returns to office.
This survey was conducted through automated responses via mobile (97%) and landline (3%). The response rate was 5.7%, with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
