Choo Kyung-ho: “Before the Democratic Party criticizes the President’s apology, they should reflect on their own mistakes.”

Choo Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People Power Party, stated today (8th), “Before Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party criticize the President’s apology, they should first reflect on their own wrongdoings and bow their heads to apologize to the people.”

At the policy meeting held at the National Assembly today, Floor Leader Choo mentioned, “Yesterday, the Democratic Party poured out harsh criticism towards the President’s apology to the nation, claiming it lacked sincerity.”

Choo addressed Lee, asking, “Have you ever acknowledged your mistakes and apologized before discussing the President’s sincerity?” He brought up allegations such as Lee’s perjury incitement and his wife Kim Hye-kyung’s violation of the Public Official Election Act.

He further pointed out, “In the Democratic Party’s ‘Money Envelope Convention’ incident, nine current and former opposition lawmakers were involved, with former Secretary-General Yoon Kwan-seok sentenced to prison, and former Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil facing a 9-year sentence. Yet the Democratic Party has not issued a single apology.”

Choo added, “Democratic Party lawmaker Shin Yong-dae, who is facing a request for an arrest warrant, is making absurd claims, stating it is a ‘prosecutorial operation to reduce the Democratic Party’s number of seats.’ Such shamelessness is worthy of being in the Guinness Book.”

Regarding the comprehensive policy inquiry in the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, Choo stated, “Opposition lawmakers were busy targeting the President with criticisms, ignoring the approximately 680 trillion won budget. Can’t the Democratic Party, with its all-in focus on shielding its leader, and the reformists, use even a tenth of their effort spent on impeachment and special investigations to sincerely address public welfare?” he questioned.
