Woo Won-sik, the Speaker of the National Assembly, has proposed a dinner meeting with the floor leaders of the ruling and opposition parties to discuss the handling of the 2025 budget bill in a plenary session.
A representative from the Speaker’s office told MBC in a phone call, “Speaker Woo has suggested to the floor leaders of both parties to have a dinner meeting today to listen to opinions regarding next year’s budget bill.” They also mentioned that there has yet to be a response to the proposal.
Previously, the Democratic Party unilaterally passed next year’s budget bill, reflecting only budget cuts, at the National Assembly’s Special Committee on Budget and Accounts. In response, the People Power Party strongly opposes the move, stating that “the Democratic Party’s ‘budget tyranny’ will bring misfortune to the public.”
