Woo Won-sik, the Speaker of the National Assembly, delivered a congratulatory address at the first multidimensional inequality index research result presentation organized by the National Assembly, held at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building on the 28th. The research involved participation from the National Assembly Legislative Research Office and the policy committees of five parliamentary parties: the Democratic Party of Korea, the People Power Party, the National Innovation Party, the Reform New Party, and the Progressive Party.
On the 13th, Speaker Woo directly criticized Jang Dong-hyuk, the representative of the People Power Party, who recently claimed, “We are Hwang Kyo-ahn.”
On that morning, Speaker Woo expressed on social media (SNS), “Are we Hwang Kyo-ahn! That night, do you really think that I should have been arrested, I wonder?”
The previous day, Representative Jang made remarks at the ‘7.4 billion won Daejang-dong Illicit Gain National Treasury Recollection and Prosecutors’ Appeal Withdrawal Protest Rally’ held at the National Assembly, asserting, “It’s war. We are Hwang Kyo-ahn. Let’s unite and fight.”
Former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn is accused of inciting insurrection, having posted on SNS in support of martial law immediately following the declaration of emergency martial law on December 3rd, calling for the arrest of Woo Won-sik and Han Dong-hoon. The special prosecutorial team on rebellion has applied for an arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Hwang. His pre-arrest interrogation will be held at 4 PM today at the Seoul Central District Court.
