The National Human Rights Commission of Korea will operate a ‘concentrated application period for complaints’ targeting vulnerable groups such as low-income, disabled, and elderly people over the next two months.
Commissioner Yoo Cheol-hwan mentioned during a regular briefing held at the government Sejong Government Complex on the 13th, “Through this concentrated application period, we will pay more attention to the safety of vulnerable groups.”
He emphasized, “If there are issues threatening the safety or lives of vulnerable groups, we will immediately rush to the scene to take emergency measures, and proactively address hidden issues before complaints arise.”
Commissioner Yoo also announced that he will visit the National Sorokdo Hospital in Jeollanam-do and Hanssen nursing facilities and settlement village ‘Doseong Village’ in Yeosu on the 17th, in time for Hanssen’s Day.
He stated, “Through this visit, I aim to comfort the elderly Hansen residents, understand the difficulties they are currently facing, and check whether the existing complaint resolution measures have been properly implemented.”
The Commission will hold the ‘2024 Youth Complaint Center’ at Hanbat University and Yonsei University at the end of this month to listen to and address the grievances of young people related to housing, employment, and tuition fees.
