Attorney Kim So-yeon Alleges Lee Jun-seok Used Myung-si as a Liaison After Severing Ties with President Yoon Suk-yeol
On November 18, attorney Kim So-yeon claimed in an interview with MBC Radio’s “Kim Jong-bae’s Focus” that Lee Jun-seok, a member of the Reform New Party and former leader of the People Power Party, utilized Myung Tae-kyun as a channel to gauge the intentions and movements of President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife.
Attorney Kim stated that Lee and Myung communicated frequently, even during late hours on the messaging app KakaoTalk. She argued that Lee used Myung as the sole way to learn about the President’s personal affairs, the people he or his wife met, and their intentions, highlighting the complete personal disconnection between Lee and President Yoon after Yoon became the presidential candidate for the People Power Party. This relationship soured to the point where Lee purportedly said he would leave Earth if Yoon became President.
In support of her claims, Kim mentioned that “this information was also reported by News Tomato, which released recorded audio files.” She added that even as early as a certain point in time, Myung’s information regarding Kim Gun-hee, the First Lady, was considered unreliable to the extent that Kim Mi-kyung, the wife of former Chairman Kim Jong-in, also commented negatively on its quality.
Furthermore, Myung claimed he was the one who introduced former Chairman Kim Jong-in to President Yoon, but Kim Jong-in refuted this in an interview with News Tomato last month, crediting Professor Kim Geun-sik for the introduction.
The Democratic Party released a recording in which President Yoon is heard discussing political nominations with Myung, suggesting that the conversation originated from a KakaoTalk message sent by Lee. It was reported that a message regarding Kim Young-sun’s candidacy was sent from Lee to Myung, which then led to a conversation with President Yoon, who allegedly commented on the matter.
Lee, upon his return from an overseas trip, told reporters at Incheon Airport that Myung misunderstood the situation, thinking he had directly influenced Kim’s nomination through the President.
In light of these communications, there are opinions suggesting that Lee should also be investigated. The Chosun Ilbo had reported that the prosecution plans to investigate both former Chairman Kim Jong-in and former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok regarding alleged involvement in the nomination process of President Yoon’s associates.
Meanwhile, Myung, who has been arrested on charges related to political campaign violations, is under investigation for his alleged role as an intermediary between then President-elect Yoon and others.
