‘Approval rating for President Yoon drops from 52% to 24% on his 2nd anniversary… lower than President Roh Moo-hyun’s impeachment crisis’

In the survey conducted in the 2nd week of May 2022, the positive evaluation rate of job performance reached 52%. Afterwards, due to controversies including the diplomatic controversy and the adjustment of the kindergarten enrollment age to 5 years old in the same year, it dropped to 24% in the 1st week of August, but then recovered to the 30% range following the crisis of the Hanjin Shipping refusal to transport freight. Looking at the positive job performance rates of the presidents around their 2nd anniversary surveyed by Gallup Korea, it was 28% for the 13th President Roh Tae-woo (February 1990), 37% for the 14th President Kim Young-sam (February 1995), 49% for the 15th President Kim Dae-jung (February 2000), 33% for the 16th President Roh Moo-hyun (January 2005), 44% for the 17th President Lee Myung-bak (February 2010), 33% for the 18th President Park Geun-hye (February 24-26, 2015), and 47% for the 19th President Moon Jae-in (May 7-9, 2019).’

,’This survey was conducted by randomly extracting wireless virtual numbers provided by the three mobile communication companies and conducting telephone interviews through CATI. Out of the 8,910 people contacted, 1,000 completed the survey, resulting in a response rate of 11.2% and a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
