Ahn Cheol-soo stated, “We must overcome the river of impeachment to open the path to victory… Let’s apologize for the painful history.”

Ahn Cheol-soo, a presidential candidate from the People Power Party, has suggested that the other candidates publicly promise an apology to the public for ex-President Yoon Seok-yeol’s impeachment and a constitutional amendment to shorten the presidential term.

In a Facebook post today (23rd), Ahn stated, “If we truly want to change the times and restore public trust to defeat Lee Jae-myung, we must start with changing ourselves,” expressing his thoughts.

Ahn mentioned, “The impeachment of former President Yoon is a painful chapter in the history of the entire conservative faction,” and added, “However, responsible politicians should not ignore past mistakes but confront them.”

He further noted, “None of us are completely free from responsibility for former President Yoon’s impeachment,” and wrote, “Let’s honestly apologize to the public from the heart. Only by crossing the river of impeachment can the path to the public and the winning path open.”

Ahn also stated, “We can no longer continue with the current five-year single-term imperial presidency,” and proposed, “Whoever among us becomes the president, let’s shorten the term to three years and hold a constitutional referendum simultaneously with next year’s local elections.”

Additionally, he suggested comprehensive reforms of the National Election Commission, the abolition of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, and the integration of broader administrative efforts to address issues like low birth rates and aging population.
