Acting Chairman Choi Rejects the Resignation of Acting KCC Chairman Kim Tae-kyu

[Herald Economy = Bae Moonsook] It has been reported that Acting President Choi Sang-mok, who also serves as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, has rejected the resignation letter of Acting Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, Kim Tae-kyu.

A government official stated on the 2nd, “Acting President Choi rejected Kim’s resignation yesterday (the 1st),” adding that “Kim intends to continue in his role.”

Although Acting Chairman Kim is not a cabinet member, he attends cabinet meetings as an attendee. On December 31, during a cabinet meeting, Acting President Choi nominated two constitutional judges, prompting Kim to express his intention to resign as a form of protest.

The general consensus both within and outside the Korea Communications Commission is that the likelihood of Kim’s resignation being accepted was low from the beginning. If his resignation were to be accepted, the commission would face even more chaos than the current state with only one active member, resulting in an inability to reach decisions.
