‘Youth Culture and Arts Pass’ Application Now Open: 150,000 KRW Support for Cultural and Arts Experiences for 19-Year-Olds

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Council announced on the 24th that they are accepting applications for the ‘Youth Culture and Arts Pass,’ which supports up to 150,000 KRW for cultural and art performances and exhibitions for young people born in 2006 (from January 1 to December 31, 2006).

Any 2006-born Korean youth residing in Korea can apply, and the support funds can be used immediately when booking performances and exhibitions, such as musicals, classical concerts, and more, through the partner ticketing sites Interpark and Yes24. The issuance period for the Youth Culture and Arts Pass is from March 6 to May 31.

To apply, individuals need to sign up as members on Interpark or Yes24 and then apply for issuance on the Youth Culture and Arts Pass website. The issuance status and support amount can be checked on the ‘My Page’ section of the website, and the usage period is until December 31 of this year. However, if not used even once by June 30, usage will be restricted starting July 1, and unused support funds will be reclaimed. The government plans to support more young people in enjoying culture and arts by providing additional passes in the latter half of the year.

The Youth Culture and Arts Pass was first implemented last year as a project to help young people grow into active cultural consumers. Passes are issued based on application sequence according to predetermined quotas for each of the 17 provinces and cities, and they may close early depending on regional circumstances.

Additionally, 11 national art organizations and performance facilities, including the National Ballet, offer ticket discount benefits to Youth Culture and Arts Pass users. The discount rate varies by performance.

Yu In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, “I once watched a performance with Youth Culture and Arts Pass users last year, and I still cannot forget the youthful smiles full of excitement. I will continue to pursue policies so that young people, who are the main players of the future generation, can enrich their daily lives more vividly with culture and arts.”
