The movie [Spring in Seoul], Korean Film Producers Association Award for Best Picture

The film ‘Spring in Seoul,’ which has gained renewed attention during the martial law crisis, was selected for Best Picture by the Korean Film Producers Association following its recognition at the Blue Dragon Film Awards last week.

The Korean Film Producers Association announced today that ‘Spring in Seoul,’ a film reconstructing 9 hours during the December 12 military coup, has been awarded the Best Picture award this year.

Director Kim Sung-soo, who wrote and directed the film, will also receive the Best Director award.

The Best Actor award goes to Jo Jung-suk, who played a drag queen in ‘Pilot,’ while the Best Actress award goes to Kim Go-eun for her powerful performance as a shaman in ‘Tomb Digging.’

Additionally, a special award will be given to Lee Ha-young, head of Haha Films, for raising fairness issues such as transparent accounting in theaters through the Film Industry Crisis Resolution Network.

The Korean Film Producers Association, an organization of Korean film producers, plans to hold the awards ceremony at Indie Space in Seoul on the 17th, hosted by actress Kim Gyu-ri.
