The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s ‘Korea is Performing’ Campaign: Recommendations for 210 Performances Nationwide

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Arts Management Support Center, announced on the 29th that they will hold “2025 Korea is On Stage” from October 14 to November 16. This event will promote 210 major performances taking place on stages nationwide.

“Korea is On Stage” is a campaign designed to provide information and benefits for the public to attend Korea’s representative performances recommended by the Ministry of Culture during the peak performing arts season in October and November. The 210 performances recommended include major performances by national and public institutions, private performances participating in the “2025 Culture and Arts Nationwide Distribution Support Program,” performances by “2025 Regional Representative Art Groups,” and those recommended by local cultural foundations and cultural centers. Information on these performances can be found on the official “Korea is On Stage” website, categorized by region and genre. Various performance-related content will also be provided through official social media channels.

The Ministry of Culture will publish a program book containing information on the 210 performances, to be distributed to over 200 theaters nationwide. This book will provide performance details organized by 17 metropolitan municipalities (date, location, price, cast, etc.), and include QR codes to directly link to ticket reservation pages.

Additionally, KORAIL is offering a rail travel package for tourism linked to performances during this period, which will be available on the KORAIL official website and app. The travel package includes discounts of up to 30% on performances and up to 40% on high-speed train (KTX) tickets.

The Ministry and the Arts Management Support Center will work alongside events such as the “Seoul Arts Market (PAMS),” “Seoul International Performing Arts Festival,” “Re:Bound Festival,” and “Welcome Daehakro Festival” to promote diverse performances and support the revitalization of the performing arts.

The Seoul Arts Market, supporting B2B transactions to stimulate domestic and international distribution of Korean performing arts, will take place from October 14 to November 9 at venues including the National Theater of Korea, Arko and Daehakro Arts Theater, and Daehakro Theater Quad. It will feature activities like PAMS Choice (showcase of excellent domestic works), PAMS Salon (information sharing in performing arts), PAMS Booth (promotion for art organizations and institutions), and PAMS Speed Dating (1:1 business meetings for performance distribution).

The Seoul International Performing Arts Festival will occur from October 16 to November 9 at venues such as Arko and Daehakro Arts Theater, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, and Daehakro Theater Quad, showcasing 10 international invited works and 12 collaborative projects between artists and institutions from home and abroad.

The “Re:Bound Festival,” highlighting excellent regional performances in Seoul, runs from October 16 to November 16 at the Seoul Arts Center’s Jayu Small Theater and major theaters of Seoul’s district cultural foundations, featuring works by 15 of the 2025 regional art group representatives. The “Welcome Daehakro Festival,” a performance tourism festival aimed at promoting domestic performance content to foreigners, runs from September 26 to November 2 at venues around Daehakro, Myeongdong, and the National Museum of Korea.

Minister Choi Hwi-yeong stated, “Korea is On Stage is a campaign prepared to increase our citizens’ opportunities to enjoy performances during the peak season. We hope it organically connects performances nationwide with major festivals and markets, fostering active communication with audiences and contributing to the revitalization of the performing arts.”
