The government is seeking public opinions on improving the copyright system for artificial intelligence (AI). The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with the Korea Copyright Commission, will collect public feedback on AI copyright system improvements from the 4th of this month until the 6th of next month. Individuals or organizations can submit their opinions without any restrictions on the commission’s website under the ‘Participation-Survey’ section.
The ministry plans to gather a wide range of opinions on various AI era copyright issues, including the acquisition of proper usage rights for AI learning materials, the disclosure of AI learning data lists, the protection of AI outputs, the labeling of AI outputs, and the copyright registration of AI outputs.
To proactively address copyright issues in the AI era, the government is operating the second group of the ‘AI-Copyright System Improvement Working Group.’ Alongside this, it is researching ‘AI Copyright Law and System Improvement Plans’ to comprehensively examine domestic and international policy trends, legislative examples, case laws, and system improvement strategies.
Based on the working group’s findings and public feedback, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to announce the ‘AI Copyright Policy Direction’ by the end of this year.
