Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its new electric SUV, the “Ioniq 9”, at the Goldstein House in Los Angeles on the 21st. The Ioniq 9, the first three-row large electric SUV by Hyundai, will be showcased to the public for the first time at the 2024 LA Auto Show, which opens on the 22nd. Sales will begin in early 2025 in Korea and will gradually expand to markets in the U.S., Europe, and other regions.
The Ioniq 9 features the largest interior space in its class, boasting sleek exterior designs that minimize air resistance. It has an impressive driving range of over 500 km (approximately 310 miles) on a single charge for all models. The Ioniq 9 is built on Hyundai’s dedicated electric vehicle platform, E-GMP, and is fitted with a 110.3 kWh battery, offering remarkable performance. With a body length 50 mm longer and 35 mm taller than the Kia’s large electric SUV, the EV9, it presents a record wheelbase of 3,130 mm and a flat floor extending to a third row, providing ample space in every seat.
Despite its class-leading size, the Ioniq 9 boasts an aerodynamic design achieving a drag coefficient of 0.259 (with 19-inch wheels, two-wheel drive, and digital side mirrors), which is one of the best figures for a large SUV.
