The interior of Huijeongdang Hall in Changdeokgung Palace, the office of the Joseon kings, is unveiled.

The interior of Heejeongdang Hall, located in Changdeokgung Palace, which is rarely equipped with modern architectural features like an entrance, will be open to the public.

The Cultural Heritage Administration’s Office of Palaces and Tombs announced on the 5th that it will hold a special viewing event titled ‘A Deep Dive into Changdeokgung, Heejeongdang.’

The viewing period will be from the 16th to the 27th of this month, taking place twice daily (at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.) from Tuesday to Saturday.

Heejeongdang Hall, meaning ‘to rule with bright politics,’ served as the living quarters for the king and queen, as well as the king’s office.

The current structure of Heejeongdang was rebuilt in 1920 after the original was destroyed by a fire in 1917. The new structure was built using materials from Gangnyeongjeon Hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace.

In 1985, Heejeongdang was designated as a treasure.

Heejeongdang uniquely combines traditional architectural methods with modern styles, featuring elements not typical of traditional buildings, such as an entrance suitable for car access.

During this interior tour, participants will have the opportunity to explore various parts of Heejeongdang, including the main entrance, the east annex, and the central hall, accompanied by explanations from expert guides.

In particular, visitors can enjoy replicas of large scrolls by Haegang Kim Gyujin, inspired by Mount Geumgang, in the audience chamber, including the ‘Scenery of Chongseokjeong in Geumgang’ and ‘Various Views of Geumgang’s Manmulsang.’
