Although the heavy rain advisory for the Seoul metropolitan area has been lifted, heavy rain is expected to continue until the morning.

In Yeongam County, Jeollanam-do, a road was covered with dirt water, and parked vehicles are partially submerged.

The dirt water has risen to the calves of adult males and is flowing ceaselessly into nearby underground parking lots.

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain warning for 13 locations in Jeollanam-do, including Boseong, Yeongam, and Mokpo, as of 5:30 AM today.

At one point in the early morning, over 50mm of rain per hour fell in Yeongam and Boseong, triggering a heavy rain warning.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicts that strong winds, thunder, lightning, and heavy rain will continue in the Jeollanam region until the morning, with over 120mm of rain expected in the southern part of Jeollanam until tomorrow.

However, as strong rain clouds were predicted to move further south than expected, the heavy rain advisory issued for Seoul and parts of Gangwon-do at midnight was lifted at 3:00 AM.

Seoul City activated Level 1 emergency response from 11 PM last night, deploying around 300 city employees and 3,000 district officials to prepare for concentrated heavy rain.

29 rivers and 4 pond parking lots in Seoul city were regulated, and one rainwater pumping station was partially operated. There have been no reported casualties or property damage in the city.

Nevertheless, areas in the central and northern regions are still expected to receive heavy rain of around 30 to 50mm per hour until the morning.

The Korea Meteorological Administration has also warned of strong winds in most parts of the country and urged caution.
