Renowned senior poet Shin Kyung-rim, who represents Korea, has passed away.
The funeral is scheduled to be held as a gathering of major literary organizations in Korea.

Returning after parting with you,

This is ‘A Poor Love Song’ by poet Shin Kyung-rim, first published in 1988. It is a work that sings about the life of a city laborer who had to discard human things due to poverty with warm humanity, and is a beloved poem in Korean textbooks.
Senior poet Shin Kyung-rim, who sang the sorrows of the common people in plain language, passed away at the age of 89. He passed away while battling cancer.
The deceased, born in 1935 in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do, made a name for himself in the literary world by publishing the poem ‘Day Moon’ in 1956 while studying English literature at Dongguk University. He later worked as an elementary school teacher and in 1973, he published his representative work ‘Nongmu’, followed by his first poetry collection ‘Nongmu’ in 1975.
He published poetry collections such as ‘Saehae’, ‘A Poor Love Song’, ‘Mokgyejangteo’, and ‘Camel’, and won awards including the 1st Manhae Literary Award in 1974, the Korean Literature Writer’s Award, and in 2001, he was awarded the Eungwan Cultural Medal, becoming a pillar of the Korean literary world.

The wake is being held at Seoul National University Hospital, and the funeral will be proceeded as a gathering of major Korean literary figures.
