National Heritage Administration to expand on-site video interpretation service for visually impaired individuals at palaces.

Last year, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that it will operate 80 sessions of on-site video interpretation programs for visually impaired individuals at the Four Grand Palaces starting on the 28th. This specialized interpretation program provides detailed descriptions, directions, and distances, utilizing various senses including touch. Visually impaired participants can experience the palaces in three dimensions by listening to historical interpretations and visual descriptions while directly touching architectural features like Changdeokgung Injeongjeon flower pattern, Heejeongdang chimney motif, and Deoksugung Jeonggwanheon tactile model. Since last year, the Cultural Heritage Administration, in cooperation with the Seoul Tourism Foundation, has been providing on-site video interpretation services at the Four Grand Palaces in Seoul. Starting in the second half of this year, a new service will also be offered at Jongmyo Shrine. The number of interpretation sessions has been expanded from 60 to 80 this year, with two sessions held free of charge on weekdays. Each session can accommodate up to four people, including visually impaired individuals and up to three companions. Applications can be made up to a week before the desired viewing date. Reservations for on-site video interpretation programs at the Four Grand Palaces can be made by phone starting at 10 a.m. on the 27th. Participants departing from Seoul can use the Seoul Danoorim vehicles to travel to the palaces for free.
