During the ’60th Library Week (April 12-18)’ at Busan Public Libraries, a magic balloon show takes place at the Busan Dong-gu Children’s English Library on April 14. Throughout this Library Week, 49 public libraries in the Busan area will host various events, including author lectures, experiences, and performances.
Ahead of Library Week from April 12-18, libraries in the Busan area plan a series of diverse events under the theme “Planting Seeds of Dreams, Inquiring at the Library.”
Geumjeong District (Mayor Yoon Il-hyun) will hold a meeting with author Kim Ae-ran at Geumsaem Library on April 13, themed “The Four Seasons of Life, The Musical Scales of Novels.” Participants will explore the seasons and music in the author’s novels, discuss the roles of songs and stories in our lives, and get a chance to ask the author questions. On the 19th, there will be a children’s musical titled “Captain Hook After Memory Loss,” and on the 23rd, World Book Day, a lecture entitled “Me, Dreams, Us through Picture Books” by Kim Young-soo, CEO of “Books and Kids,” is scheduled. Other events include:
– A special lecture for parents about helping children grow as lifelong readers
– A hands-on workshop for elementary students
– A book exchange and magazine distribution
– Special events in the library’s resource rooms
In Sasang District (Mayor Cho Byung-gil), Sasang Library will offer a variety of practical workshops, such as “Icing Cookie Making” for children and families on April 12, “Chatterbox Playground” for infants and caregivers on April 16, and “Learning Cloth Wrapping” for adults on April 18. In addition, a humanities lecture, “A Masterpiece Collection Reflecting on Myself and My Family,” will be conducted for adults.
The Juree Open Library will also offer children’s workshops like cookie making and making phone bags, and a performance titled “Magic Captain Looking” for young children.
