Last year, the “Royal Culture Festival,” which attracted 1 million visitors, will take place from the 25th this year.

The Cultural Heritage Administration has announced that the “2025 Spring Palace Culture Festival” will take place from April 26 to May 4 at Seoul’s five major palaces and the Jongmyo Shrine. This year marks the 11th iteration of the festival, known as the largest national heritage festival in Korea, which utilizes traditional cultural content set against the backdrop of ancient palaces. Last year, over 960,000 domestic and international visitors attended the event.

For 2025, the festival aims to enhance content related to traditional crafts and Hanbok living experiences, operate specialized programs tied to important dates like King Sejong’s birth anniversary, increase visitor participation activities, and expand programs for foreigners.

The festival’s opening ceremony will be held at Gyeongbokgung Palace on April 25, followed by a series of performances, experiences, and exhibitions showcasing Joseon Dynasty palace culture. Highlights include a large-scale experiential program titled “Time Travel, Sejong,” which allows visitors to engage in activities like making royal treats and participating in traditional dances. Other events include “Palace Music Concert – 100 Musicians Celebrating with the People” featuring nighttime performances of court music, and special events for children and independence activists.

Additional attractions include the K-Heritage Market, where visitors can purchase traditional crafts, and “Morning Awakens the Palace,” a guided morning tour at Changdeokgung Palace accompanied by French broadcaster Fabien. The festival also features media art exhibitions, traditional craft displays, and various fusion performances integrating traditional Korean music with modern themes.

Programs requiring reservations can be booked via Ticket Link, while foreign-focused events are available through Creatrip. The Cultural Heritage Administration aims to continue evolving the festival to ensure that everyone, regardless of nationality or age, can appreciate the beauty of Korea’s palaces and cultural heritage.
