At the ‘Automobile Day’ event held on the 14th at the JW Marriott Hotel Seoul Grand Ballroom in Seocho-gu, Seoul, Kim Hyung-seok, a senior researcher at Kumho Tire, was recognized for his contributions to the development of the automotive industry and received the Minister’s Award from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Kumho Tire was selected as a contributor to the advancement of the automotive industry at the 22nd Automobile Day. The event was attended by Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Ahn Duk-geun and around 250 industry representatives. On this day, 34 contributors to the automotive industry received awards.
Kim Hyung-seok was the only awardee from the tire industry to receive the Minister’s Award. He is the project manager for the development of the “Smart Tire System” technology and has been instrumental in pioneering new markets in the mobility sector and enhancing the performance of autonomous vehicles within the tire industry.
The Smart Tire System involves a sensor module installed on the tire and a dedicated wireless communication device in the vehicle to monitor tire pressure, temperature, wear, and load in real-time. This system ensures optimal driving conditions by enabling the management of tire information and vehicle data monitoring.
Kim expressed his delight in contributing to the development of the domestic automotive industry and pledged to continue enhancing smart tire technology to lead the future mobility market.
