The International Broadcasting Video Market (BCWW) will be held from September 16 to 19 at Coex in Seoul, as announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, this annual event has become Asia’s largest broadcasting and online video service (OTT) content market, supporting the export of K-content and serving as a platform for exchanging information among domestic and international video industry professionals. Last year, the event facilitated export contracts worth approximately $86.24 million (about 119.7 billion KRW) with the participation of over 10,000 video industry professionals from more than 30 countries.
This year, under the theme “Window to the Future,” the event aims to invigorate the broadcasting and OTT video industry, which is key to bringing about the “300 trillion won K-Culture era.” It will feature exhibition halls for content and platform companies, showcases, and business consultations between producers, buyers, and investors. The event will also organize various lectures highlighting the latest video industry technologies and trends and host a promotional hall for general attendees focused on K-OTT and Smart TV-based FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) services.
Additionally, to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Korea-France diplomatic relations in 2026 and to strengthen international exchange, France has been invited as the guest of honor. Representatives from key French companies in broadcasting, OTT, film, and animation, including the CNC (National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image), are expected to attend. Special programs will include a French national pavilion, corporate content showcases, and lectures aimed at expanding collaboration opportunities such as exports and co-productions between the video industries of the two nations.
Throughout the event, industry experts will give lectures on various topics, diagnosing recent environmental changes and industry trends, while sharing future strategies such as “The Future of AI and Content” and “The New Outlet for K-Content, the Emerging FAST Platform.” The event will also operate promotional halls for “K-OTT” and “Smart TV-based Real-time Streaming Services (FAST),” where companies like Coupang Play and TVING will promote their content, including “Shooting Star” and “Iron Girl Gang,” as well as upcoming releases. The FAST promotional hall, drawing attention as a new distribution channel for K-content, will host showcases and experience activities by major domestic operators, offering visitors a chance to experience various real-time streaming services and gauge their growth potential.
Im Sung-hwan, Director General of the Media Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, expressed hopes for this year’s event, stating, “We hope that the International Broadcasting Video Market, celebrating its 25th anniversary, serves as a venue for sustained industry growth discussions while supporting K-content exports in diverse ways,” and added, “The Ministry will do its utmost to prepare for the successful hosting of the event.”
