As we approach the end-of-year peak travel season, international flight tickets departing from South Korea have been ranked among the best value in Asia. Notably, some routes to Japan remain available for around 50,000 KRW even during the late December peak season, indicating a likely increase in short-distance overseas travel demand.
According to Agoda’s analysis of flights departing between December 20 and 31, South Korea ranked as the third best value international departure location in Asia. The highest value routes were Johor Bahru to Phuket and Pontianak to Kuching, both from Malaysia and Indonesia, priced at 36,773 KRW.
Other notable routes included Krabi to Kuala Lumpur at 41,185 KRW, Busan to Kumamoto at 47,069 KRW, and Osaka to Busan at 57,365 KRW. From South Korea, the Gimpo to Nagoya route offered the best value at 50,011 KRW, followed by Incheon to Osaka at 58,836 KRW.
Notably, all top-ranked routes involved travel to Japan, suggesting that due to accessibility and reasonable pricing, more South Korean travelers might choose Japan as a travel destination in the future.
For domestic routes, flights departing from Gimpo ranked at the top, with routes to Jeju (13,238 KRW), Busan (27,947 KRW), and Yeosu (47,069 KRW) being the most cost-effective.
Lee Jun-hwan, Agoda’s representative for Northeast Asia, stated that the end of the year is a highly anticipated travel season, with a strong demand for reasonably priced airline tickets. He assured that Agoda would provide a variety of flight options and affordable prices to help travelers enjoy a pleasant and warm year-end holiday.
