Hyundai Unveils New Hydrogen-Powered Nexo Model for the First Time in Seven Years

The New Ioniq 6 Design Unveiled

Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the new hydrogen electric vehicle ‘The All-New Nexo’ and the electric vehicle ‘The New Ioniq 6’ for the first time globally.

Jose Muñoz, President of Hyundai Motor Company, stated at the ‘2025 Seoul Mobility Show’ held at KINTEX in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, on the 3rd, “We will continue to innovate future mobility with high-quality and customer-centered product lineups and lead the electrification era,” he revealed.

Muñoz added, “As competition intensifies, we must respond quickly to succeed,” and noted that the launch of the new cars is based on Hyundai Motor’s DNA of agilely responding to challenges, which is the core of global business.

The All-New Nexo is a hydrogen electric vehicle and is a fully redesigned model being introduced seven years after its initial release in March 2018. Hyundai Motor has materialized The All-New Nexo based on the hydrogen electric vehicle concept car ‘Initium’ unveiled last October.

The All-New Nexo features a robust SUV image combined with the unique design of a hydrogen electric vehicle. As an eco-friendly model, it incorporates eco-friendly materials such as recycled plastics and bio paint throughout its interior and exterior.

The front daytime running lights and rear combination lamps feature a design that embodies the symbol of Hyundai Motor Group’s hydrogen brand ‘HTWO.’ The interior has a driver-centric panoramic curved display and digital side mirrors to enhance practicality and openness. The rear overhang has been extended by 80 mm compared to the previous model, providing a trunk space of 510 liters.

The All-New Nexo is equipped with a motor system that includes two inverters, improving efficiency to 90% and achieving a maximum motor output of 150 kilowatts (kW). Compared to the previous model, system efficiency has improved by 1.3 percentage points, and motor output has increased by 25%.

The vehicle can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. Charging time is around 5 minutes, and a single charge allows for a range of over 700 km, according to Hyundai. The car includes a route planner that provides optimal travel routes with real-time information on the national hydrogen charging infrastructure.

On the same day, Hyundai unveiled the designs of The New Ioniq 6 and The New Ioniq 6 N Line. The New Ioniq 6, a facelift model of the Ioniq 6 released in September 2022, offers a silhouette with enhanced sleekness through curves and proportions.

According to Hyundai, the starting point of the vehicle’s front hood has been raised, and the existing hood has been improved to a long-hood shark nose shape, creating the impression of cutting through air as it speeds. The previously protruding spoiler has been removed for a sharper side profile.

The New Ioniq 6 N Line features a bumper design with garnish reminiscent of wings, enhancing its dynamic image. The interior design has been improved to focus on a more comfortable and intuitive user experience, with adjustments to elements like the center console layout.
