The momentum of the early summer heat is not to be taken lightly. Even last night, Gangneung couldn’t cool down with temperatures hovering around 25 degrees for the second consecutive day due to the tropical night phenomenon. Most regions will see temperatures rise similar to yesterday even during midday, continuing the scorching heat.
In Gyeonggi Province, Yongin, Jeollanam-do, and the Yeongnam region, heat wave warnings are in effect. Today, Seoul is expected to reach a high of 31 degrees, Gangneung 34 degrees, and Gyeongju up to 35 degrees.
With the significant rise in daytime temperatures, the atmosphere is becoming unstable, leading to showers in some parts of the southern inland areas. Rainfall of 5-20mm is expected, accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning.
The sky will generally be clear today, but dense fog is likely to cover the West Sea coast and South Sea coast until the morning. Nationwide, UV rays and ozone levels will soar during the day.
Current temperatures by region: Seoul 19.9 degrees, Gangneung 27.5 degrees.
The daytime temperatures are expected to be 33 degrees in Daejeon, 32 degrees in Gwangju, and 34 degrees in Daegu.
Tomorrow, the early summer heat will continue, reaching 30 degrees during midday under mostly clear skies. On Saturday, rain is expected in the capital area, western Gangwon Province, and Jeju Island. This has been the weather forecast by meteorologist Kim Dayoung.
