Enforcement of the National Music Promotion Act on July 26th… Public hearing for the draft enforcement decree on the 31st.

Minister Yu In-chon is holding a meeting with experts on the Korean traditional music promotion law at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, ahead of the enforcement of the law. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that a public hearing on the enforcement decree and regulations of the law will be held at the National Gugak Center on July 31, as the enforcement of the Korean traditional music promotion law is scheduled to begin on July 26. The public hearing will cover matters delegated in the enforcement decree and regulations, such as a survey on the current status of Korean traditional music and the designation of training institutions for professionals in the field, as well as the designation of a National Gugak Day. Experts including Professor Song Hye-jin from Sookmyung Women’s University, Professor Sung Ki-suk from Korea National University of Arts, composer Won Il, and Lee Yong-sik, Vice Chairman of the Korean Traditional Music Society, will discuss and debate the proposed regulations. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will consider feedback from relevant ministries and local governments to finalize the enforcement decree and regulations, which will be approved through the State Council before being implemented. The legislative notice for the regulations will be open for public feedback until June 17. Shin Eun-hyang, Arts Policy Officer at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, “Starting with the establishment of subordinate regulations, we will ensure the smooth implementation of policies outlined in the Korean traditional music promotion law, including the development of basic plans and conducting surveys on the current status.”
