As the cold is expected to intensify, a cold wave advisory has been issued for Seoul, the metropolitan area, Gangwon, Chungcheong, and parts of North Gyeongsang Province.
The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that strong cold air at around minus 30 degrees Celsius will descend from the upper layers overnight, significantly lowering temperatures. Consequently, a cold wave advisory has been issued, mainly for the central regions.
The advisory affects all areas except the southeastern part of Seoul, 19 locations in northeastern Gyeonggi, 3 locations in Chungnam including Taean, 4 locations in Chungbuk including Jecheon, and 4 locations in North Gyeongsang including Mungyeong. The advisory will take effect at 9 PM tonight.
