Singer and musical actor Kim Junsu was threatened and suffered an extortion loss of 800 million won from a female BJ. In response, SBS’s “Curious Story Y” began investigating the incident. The investigative program stated on its official SNS on the 16th that they are investigating a BJ accused of threatening to distribute recorded files and demanding money from a prominent celebrity and several men. They also sought information from anyone familiar with the BJ or victimized by her.
Kim Junsu’s case surfaced after five years on the 15th. According to a report by Munhwa Ilbo, the Northern Gyeonggi Province Police Agency requested an arrest warrant for a BJ, referred to as A, on charges of extortion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. A is accused of coercing Kim Junsu into giving her money 101 times from September 2020 to last month.
A reportedly met Kim Junsu in 2019 and recorded their conversations and voice exchanges. Later, she threatened to distribute these recordings online and extorted money from him. It’s suggested that she committed these acts to fund drug purchases, and she currently faces charges related to drug offenses.
In response, Kim Junsu’s agency, Palm Tree Island, stated that A illegally recorded conversations with Kim Junsu intending to circulate them on SNS. Despite knowing Kim Junsu was innocent, A exploited his celebrity status to continually threaten him, claiming that any false article could damage his image irreparably. The agency emphasized Kim Junsu as a clear victim, confirming multiple victims of A’s extortion and deciding to pursue legal action to prevent further harm.
Kim Junsu also communicated with fans, apologizing for the unexpected news and explaining he could no longer endure the continuous harassment over five years. He stated that despite knowing the unfavorable nature of such news, he felt a moral obligation to act, aware of more than six other victims. Kim Junsu reassured his fans of his innocence, pointing out that he hasn’t engaged in any wrongdoing and expressing regret for causing concern.
