Song Sun-mi, whose husband was a victim of a contracted murder, says, “I don’t live like a victim for my daughter’s sake.”

Actress Song Seon-mi revealed her life as a single mom.

On the TV CHOSUN program “Perfect Life,” which aired on the 13th, Song Seon-mi appeared as a guest. Song Seon-mi married art director Go Woo-seok in 2006 and had a daughter in 2014, but she became widowed in 2017. It was revealed that Go Woo-seok was the victim of a contract killing orchestrated by his cousin, identified as Mr. Kwak, in a bid to claim his grandfather’s inheritance, which caused a great shock. The court sentenced Mr. Kwak to life imprisonment for murder solicitation and ruled that he should also pay Song Seon-mi about 1.31 billion won in damages.

Since then, Song Seon-mi has been raising her child alone. She shared, “I haven’t found it particularly difficult to raise my child alone. I had some worries when my child was young. When she was 4–5 years old, she needed someone to play with her, but I wasn’t always physically able. During those times, I would ask my manager’s younger brother to play with her.”

She continued, “I believe it’s beneficial and empowering for a child to see their mother loving herself and living independently. I haven’t lived as if I’m a victim just because I’m a single mom.”

Song Seon-mi also admitted, “I can’t sleep well these days. I have a house, but the construction of a new building nearby accidentally cut the sewer pipes, which has been a major stressor. Recently, I felt chest pains and had a check-up, but there were no problems with my heart. It turns out there are some blockages in my arteries. I’m taking medication for it, and I have migraines, which prevent me from getting a good night’s sleep, often waking up every 2–3 hours.”
