[OSEN= Kim Soo-hyung] In the program ‘Joseon’s Love Conqueror,’ the couple Park Yong-geun and Chaerina appeared, and after a failed attempt at IVF after three years, filming was halted as Chaerina secretly wiped away tears, evoking sympathy from those watching.
On the broadcast of TV Chosun’s ‘Joseon’s Love Conqueror’ on the 21st, the couple Chaerina and Park Yong-geun, who have been married for 10 years, appeared. The two have a 6-year age difference—one is older.
The couple confessed that since 2019, they have experienced three consecutive IVF failures. Chaerina shared, “If not now, the probability of success can decrease, so I’ll keep trying while I feel healthy,” updating viewers on her latest attempt at IVF.
They were shown visiting an obstetrician after three years to check on their health. The specialist informed them that Chaerina’s ovarian function index had significantly decreased—tenfold over the past three years. Despite hearing that egg retrieval might be challenging, they decided to proceed with IVF using the ten frozen embryos they had stored.
When the day for IVF results arrived, they found out through a blood test whether she was pregnant. The hospital called, and the staff member said, “It would have been nice to bring good news, but the pregnancy index came out as zero.” Both of them struggled to hold back tears. However, the staff reassured them that there were remaining embryos and encouraged another attempt.
After ending the call, Chaerina, despite trying to stay composed, eventually broke down, feeling back at square one, expressing, “It’s back to zero base.” Although she reassured the concerned production team by saying she was okay, her appearance was full of heartbreak. Her husband, Park Yong-geun, comforted her with a hug, saying, “It’s okay.” Chaerina shed more tears, and Park genuinely sympathized, saying, “Let’s just live for the two of us; don’t do IVF anymore—it’s hard.”
After a moment, Park cautiously suggested, “Shall we take a break?” leading to a temporary filming break. Alone in the room, Chaerina finally let out her restrained sobs, surrounded by numerous medical syringes. She expressed her guilt, “I’m not pressured by those around me—they fully support my decisions, but I feel cornered like a trapped mouse.” She reflected a sense of self-reproach, saying, “Because I’m six years older, I feel sorry for my husband for having met me.”
Seeing Chaerina’s belated tears, Park comforted her with a silent embrace and further support, even adjusting his schedule for her. He promised to treat her to a delicious meal, lovingly taking care of her, and reaffirming their love for each other, showing an even closer bond.
