“On the Plate, Me”… Ahn Young-mi’s Post Amidst ‘Swear Word Controversy’ Was Not an Apology or Explanation

[My Daily = Reporter Lee Seung-gil] Comedian Ahn Young-mi chose a different approach instead of an apology or explanation.

Ahn Young-mi recently found herself at the center of controversy. On the 9th episode of Coupang Play’s ‘SNL Korea 6’, which aired on the 26th, a parody of the tvN drama ‘Jeong-nyeoni’ was performed. Ahn Young-mi introduced herself as “Jeot-nyeon-i,” a play on the protagonist character Yoon Jeong-nyeon, played by Kim Tae-ri.

She stated, “I’ll show you a much more shocking Chunhyang,” and sang a modified version of the traditional Korean song ‘Love Song.’ The line “Come over here, let’s play” was changed to “Come over here, let’s do it naked,” accompanied by suggestive gestures that mimicked sexual acts. Upon seeing this, Jeong Yi-rang reacted by saying, “Just watching this makes me feel like I could get pregnant. It might help with birth policies.” This parody sexualized characters from an ongoing drama, including a minor character in the story.

The second controversy arose on the 29th. During the MBC FM4U radio show ‘2 O’Clock Date with Ahn Young-mi,’ Ahn Young-mi used the expletive “씨X” during a conversation with guests Sunwoo from The Boyz and Youngjae from GOT7. When the guests appeared shocked, Ahn Young-mi explained, “I meant to say shoes, shoes (신발, 신발),” and Sunwoo quickly added, “Oh, when you tie your shoelaces, you should turn around and do it,” attempting to defuse the situation.

In response to the criticism she received, Ahn Young-mi’s reaction was unique. On the 30th, she uploaded a photo on her social media showing her head placed atop a fruit basket, a bizarre image that could symbolize her current scrutiny. Viewers commented, “Is this reflecting your current state of mind?”

Ahn Young-mi, known for her edgy comedy that often toes the line, is at a crossroads that could become a significant turning point for her.
