[OSEN=Jang Woo-young] Chef Jung Ho-young from ‘The Boss’s Ears Are Donkey Ears’ held the 1st ‘Sadaeng-gwi Gourmet Workshop’ in collaboration with MC Kim Sook and ‘Baseball God’ Yang Jun-hyuk, creating a culinary feast in Tottori Prefecture, a city known for its gourmet food.

The 338th episode of the KBS2 variety show ‘The Boss’s Ears Are Donkey Ears’ (directed by Choi Seung-hee, hereafter ‘Sadaeng-gwi’), which aired on the 4th, recorded a peak viewership rating of 7.3%, maintaining its No. 1 viewership rating in its time slot for 187 consecutive weeks into the new year (according to Nielsen Korea).

Jung Ho-young, invited by Tottori Prefecture, known for its rich specialties like tuna, rice, and wagyu, hosted the first ‘Sadaeng-gwi Gourmet Workshop’. When Kim Sook and Yang Jun-hyuk joined, it drew envy from Jeon Hyun-moo and Park Myung-soo. Jung Ho-young humorously admitted, “I called Kim Sook because she seemed free and Yang Jun-hyuk because it seemed convenient to get him involved.”

The trio started their gourmet journey at Yonago Sakaiminato. The seafood market, filled with freshly caught seafood, was abundant with seasonal pine leaf crabs. While Jung Ho-young toured the market to taste the sample crabs, he didn’t offer the tasting opportunity to Kim Sook and Yang Jun-hyuk, leading to some complaints. Jung Ho-young joked, “I need to taste it first to make sure it’s safe,” prompting laughter. Eventually, a hungry Yang Jun-hyuk left the group to buy steamed crab buns, adding to the humor.

At the seafood market, they purchased and tasted items such as yellowtail, sweet shrimp, sashimi bibimbap, red seabream sashimi, and tarp sashimi. True to his role as a sushi chef, Jung Ho-young immediately introduced ways to enjoy fresh seafood more deliciously, such as combining sweet shrimp with sea urchin, greatly increasing the satisfaction of Kim Sook and Yang Jun-hyuk.

The second location was a course with a full table of pine leaf crab. Kim Sook and Yang Jun-hyuk were amazed by the taste of the pine leaf crab. Kim Sook exclaimed, “It’s like eating string cheese with the texture of the crab,” giving high praise. Overwhelmed by the taste of the pine leaf crab, Kim Sook and Yang Jun-hyuk’s admiration brought the first day of the gourmet workshop arranged by Jung Ho-young to a close.

Meanwhile, Kim Yoon-joo, the head of WOWSAN RECORDS, garnered attention by meeting her business role model, Song Eun-yi, a representative CEO in the entertainment industry responsible for 22 celebrities. Kim Yoon-joo expressed, “Song Eun-yi is someone we must meet for wow san to become the Himalayas,” and sought advice from Song Eun-yi on promoting WOWSAN FAMILY’s year-end season song. Song Eun-yi sincerely advised, “You need to relentlessly approach music shows, radio, and also produce short-form content as a basic strategy. As a CEO, you should even be able to put your reputation on the line for your artists.”

Kim Yoon-joo, determined for her affiliated artists, visited KBS Entertainment Department with Jang Deul-re and Thunder Lily to request an appearance on KBS2’s ‘The Seasons – 10CM’s Touch’ hosted by her husband, 10CM’s Kwon Jeong-yeol. Upon meeting the production team, she advertised the year-end release of the season song while showcasing the artists’ diverse talents and skills. She even declared, “If we can’t appear on ‘The Seasons,’ we won’t release the season song,” winning over the production team.

Consequently, the production team proposed to Kim Yoon-joo, “Can we expect to see the first-ever shot with husband Kwon Jeong-yeol on ‘The Seasons’?” Kim Yoon-joo, who revealed they had never performed on stage together since marriage, contemplated briefly, then heightened expectations by saying, “For our artists, I can certainly arrange for Kwon Jeong-yeol to be paraded in a flower palanquin.”

On another note, Lee Soon-sil, who is sincerely passionate about cooking, intrigued viewers by challenging herself to obtain a Korean cuisine certification. She tackled bibimbap and bellflower herb salad, which are deemed the most challenging among the 33 menu items tested on the exam.

The cooking instructor explained that adhering to the specifications for ingredient preparation during the practical exam is truly difficult, demonstrating how to cut bellflower roots and squash to the designated length. Despite Lee Soon-sil’s usual prowess in cooking, she was daunted by the strict test regulations. Once the instructor’s demonstration ended, the simulated test began. Lee Soon-sil faced obstacles starting from washing the ingredients, humorously glancing around to glean tips from others.

Throughout the mock exam, Lee Soon-sil focused exclusively on making bibimbap, failing to complete the bellflower herb salad, thereby acknowledging the challenges of the Korean cuisine certification exam. After the mock exam concluded, Lee Soon-sil suggested gathering everyone’s bibimbap to mix and enjoy, sharing delightful conversations. She expressed her determination by stating, “I want to practice diligently and definitely obtain the Korean cuisine certification.”

Following the broadcast, various communities and SNS platforms were abuzz with reactions such as, “Supporting Boss Lee Soon-sil to pass the Korean cuisine certification,” “Kim Yoon-joo and Song Eun-yi both seem like great bosses,” “Jang Deul-re’s bragging about Park Bo-gum’s DM is adorable,” “This is how the shot of Kim Yoon-joo and Kwon Jeong-yeol came to be,” “Chef Jung Ho-young stealing bites was hilarious,” “Kim Sook describes flavors really well,” and “Yang Jun-hyuk flexed with yellowtail in Japan! As expected from the Baseball God.”

Meanwhile, ‘The Boss’s Ears Are Donkey Ears’ airs every Sunday at 4:40 PM on KBS2. /[email protected]
