[Herald Economy=Reporter Naeun Jung] Actress Lee Young-ae donated 100 million won to the Foundation for Victims of Japanese Forced Mobilization on August 15th, in commemoration of Liberation Day.

According to the foundation on the 14th, Lee Young-ae stated the day before, “I’m donating 100 million won to those who sacrificed their lives due to forced mobilization during the Japanese colonial era, thinking about the day our country was regained.”

It was reported that Lee Young-ae emphasized, “I believe it is our responsibility to take care of those who were victimized by forced mobilization during the Japanese colonial era while they are still alive.”

The foundation, under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, has been providing compensation and delayed interest payment to forced mobilization victims who won lawsuits against Japanese companies through Supreme Court rulings. The foundation is also responsible for various projects to commemorate forced mobilization victims.

Lee Young-ae, the child of a Korean War veteran, had previously donated 50 million won to the Cheonan Foundation in June, stating, “I am always grateful to those who dedicated their lives for the country. I hope this donation can be used to honor and remember their noble sacrifices.”

Furthermore, she has consistently donated funds to children of soldiers who died in the K-9 self-propelled howitzer explosion accident, soldiers harmed by North Korean naval mine provocations, and the Army Officer Candidate School.
