Lee Young-sook (69), known as a ‘Korean cuisine master’ and winner of ‘Hansik Daecheop 2’ as well as a participant in the popular variety show ‘Black and White Chef’, has been embroiled in a debt default controversy. She is accused of borrowing 100 million KRW and not repaying it for 14 years.
According to creditor A, their father lent Lee Young-sook 100 million KRW in April 2010. After their father passed away in July 2011, A discovered a promissory note containing this information. A asked Lee to repay the loan, but she denied borrowing the money, claiming that she had already repaid it with checks and cash. Consequently, A and their family (wife and children) filed a lawsuit to claim the loan, winning the case in May 2012.
