“Kim Ho-jung Wears Clothes and Lies about Embroidery”… Brazen Explanation Raises Suspicions of Hit-and-Run

While Kim Ho-jung’s side seems to downplay this situation as a ‘misunderstanding’ and states that they will continue with their performances, revealed clues are fueling controversy.

On the night of the 9th, around 11:40 PM, Kim Ho-jung is accused of causing a contact accident with a taxi in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, while changing lanes and fleeing the scene afterward. His agency stated that it was not drunk driving, but a bigger issue arose when Kim Ho-jung fled after causing the accident and later admitted to driving to the police.

The Seoul Gangnam Police Station has booked Kim Ho-jung on charges of failure to take proper action after the accident on the 11th. A company official, Mr. A, who was with Kim Ho-jung at the time, visited the police station and admitted to driving Kim Ho-jung’s car. Kim Ho-jung initially stated during the police investigation that he did not drive on the night of the 9th. However, it was later revealed that Kim Ho-jung confessed to driving under questioning from the police.

Regarding this, Kim Ho-jung’s agency, Sand E Entertainment, explained, “On the evening of the 9th, a traffic accident with a taxi occurred. When the accident happened, Kim Ho-jung parked his car in an alley, spoke with his manager, and during this time, the taxi driver reported to the police. Later, the manager, upon learning of the situation, went to the police station and admitted to driving.” They stated that although they underwent an alcohol test, the results showed no signs of drinking, and they are currently awaiting the results of the accident investigation.

However, there were several questionable points in the agency’s statement. According to the police, Kim Ho-jung initially stated during the first investigation that he did not drive, and later, after police questioning about the accident 17 hours later, he confessed to driving. Additionally, when it was confirmed that Kim Ho-jung’s manager, Mr. A, changed into Kim Ho-jung’s clothes before going to the police station to make a false confession, suspicions increased further. It is pointed out that there are differences between the process of the manager’s false confession and the explanation given by the agency.

Furthermore, the release of CCTV footage of the accident has escalated the situation. At the time of the accident, when Kim Ho-jung’s car collided with the taxi, there was a significant impact to the point where the wheel on the side that was struck lifted. However, the driver of the car that was hit did not stop but continued driving as is, and a witness stated, “They just casually drove away at full throttle. The engine noise was loud.” While it may not have been a hit-and-run as claimed by Kim Ho-jung’s side, the fact that after causing the accident, they did not check on the other vehicle and driver first but instead immediately contacted their manager is being viewed as a difficult-to-understand aspect.

The bigger issue lies in Kim Ho-jung’s attitude. Despite the suspicion of hit-and-run, instead of reflecting, the priority for Kim Ho-jung’s side was to provide explanations first and continue with performances. Even after the accident, Kim Ho-jung appeared at the ‘Trobaty Classic Arena Tour 2024’ held at the Goyang Gymnasium on the 11th and 12th. They are also scheduled to perform at the ‘World Union Orchestra Super Classic: Kim Ho-jung & Prima Donna’ at Seoul’s KSPO DOME starting from the 18th. The agency announced through the fan cafe that they will proceed with the schedule unchanged, stating, “We promise to protect our artist under any circumstances.”

Singer Kim Ho-jung, who is loved as an artist, undeniably holds influence over the public. However, criticism from public opinion is growing due to the situation where they cause social controversy and proceed with their schedule without genuine reflection.
