“Kang Kyung-joon’s side: ‘Not admitting to adultery by giving alimony… Just wanting to end the trial quickly'”

Actor Kang Kyung-joon is denying allegations of committing adultery with a married woman and accepting her claim for compensation, stating that he is only seeking a speedy end to the trial without admitting to infidelity.

According to news reports on the 25th, Kang Kyung-joon’s attorney, Kim Sung-kye, stated that Kang Kyung-joon accepted the claim for compensation out of a desire to quickly resolve the matter and alleviate the hardships, and that it does not imply admitting to an adulterous relationship.

While some interpret Kang Kyung-joon’s acceptance of the claim for compensation as a de facto admission of adultery, he clarified to the media that his decision was motivated by the desire to put an end to the ongoing media coverage and discussions related to the trial.

Earlier, Kang Kyung-joon mentioned in a statement, “I decided to respond to the plaintiff’s claim rather than engaging in legal procedures to clarify misunderstandings or dispute over the facts, in order to prevent further emotional distress to the parties involved and my supporters.”

Kang Kyung-joon faced a lawsuit for compensation in December last year for allegedly engaging in an extramarital affair with someone’s wife. The plaintiff, referred to as A, claimed that Kang Kyung-joon’s actions led to the collapse of their family and accused him of misconduct despite knowing that she was a married woman. Subsequently, messages exchanged between Kang Kyung-joon and A’s wife were partially disclosed through media reports.

In the first trial of the compensation lawsuit filed by A against Kang Kyung-joon held on the 24th at the Seoul Family Court Single Court, Kang Kyung-joon’s side mentioned the emotional and uncomfortable situation faced by Kang’s family and observers due to the dispute over facts, leading to their decision to respect Kang Kyung-joon’s opinion and accept the plaintiff’s claim to bring an end to the lawsuit.

Kang Kyung-joon, who married actress Jang Shin-young in May 2018 after a five-year relationship, has two sons, one from Jang Shin-young’s previous marriage and another born in October 2019. He has been well-received for his family-man image through appearances in shows like SBS’s ‘Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 – You Are My Destiny’ and KBS2’s ‘The Return of Superman’.
