Jessi Involved in Assault, Not the First Time “Group Beating at a Club, Same Method as Now”

[Sports Chosun Online, Reporter Lee Woo-joo] Singer Jessi has been involved in a fan assault incident, with revelations emerging that this was not the first time she was implicated in such accusations.

On the October 16th broadcast of JTBC’s ‘Incident Captain’, a whistleblower identified as Mr. A claimed that he was subjected to a group assault by Jessi and her companions at a club in Itaewon in 2013. Mr. A stated that he sustained an injury requiring two weeks of medical treatment due to the assault and accused Jessi of being an accomplice who restrained him by holding his arms. However, Jessi has maintained her innocence, claiming she was only trying to stop a fight between her friends.

Mr. A reported, “We encountered each other in the restroom, and without any reason, they started a quarrel and hit me. Jessi and her friends tried to push my face into the toilet and took my bag, saying they would return it if I knelt down and apologized.”

Mr. A, identified as a Korean-American, emphasized that although he was assaulted by Jessi’s group about a month before leaving Korea, he had to withdraw his complaint because he couldn’t cancel his prepared flight ticket due to work and other reasons.

Mr. A further stated, “Jessi’s side claims the assailant has left the country, just like in the past,” and added sarcastically, “They’re saying the assailant is Chinese? That’s ridiculous.”

Jessi was involved in an altercation that occurred in the early hours of September 29. An 18-year-old identified as Mr. B, who is a fan of Jessi, claimed he met her in an alley and requested a photo. However, one of her companions allegedly swore at him in English and blocked him. Jessi intervened, politely refused the photo request, and Mr. B left, but another man allegedly struck Mr. B in the face.

Mr. B stated, “Even though someone was hit, there was no proper response. I was disappointed to see that the celebrity I liked just stood by and watched in the video.”

In response, Jessi apologized, saying, “During a private gathering with acquaintances recently, a fan requested a picture and I politely declined twice due to the late hour. Suddenly, someone I met for the first time that day started an assault, and I was too shocked to care for the fan properly.”

Following the incident, Jessi visited the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on the afternoon of the 16th as a suspect for questioning. Before her appearance, she told reporters, “I hope they find the person who hit [the fan] and hold them accountable,” asserting she met the assailant for the first time on that day.
