Isung-mi Talks About Her Experience: Single Motherhood, Son, and Regrets Isung-mi recently opened up about a difficult period in her life when she faced challenges as a single mother. During a candid conversation, she admitted to using harsh words like “complete scumbag” to describe her feelings at the time. She reflected on her mistakes and mentioned how much she cried during those moments.

[OSEN=Kim Na-yeon] Comedian Lee Seong-mi recalled the past when she swore harshly at her son.

On the 22nd, a video titled “Comedian Lee Seong-mi Episode 5 (Life Changed After Major Conflicts with Her Son)” was uploaded on the ‘Song Seung-hwan’s Wonderful Life’ channel.

On this day, Song Seung-hwan asked, “I heard your faith in Christianity deepened as you talked and had conflicts with your son and reconciled with him.”

In response, Lee Seong-mi said, “I was a religious person. Growing up without love, I became strong when I encountered Christianity. ‘No. Why do it like that?’ I turned legalistic, and there are uncompromising people, right? It’s cold. And when I thought, ‘I have to follow the rules, why don’t I?’ it was okay, but I would turn the criticism towards others, thinking ‘Why can’t they follow it?’, ‘Why do they act like that while going to church?’

She continued, “While living in Canada, my son and I clashed and fought. That process was extremely long. I thought it was faith, so I prayed all night, saying, ‘God, please change that xx,’ ‘That damn xx,’ ‘Is that even a person?’ Then I would cry and come home saying, ‘That xx still hasn’t changed, that damned xx,’ and the next day at church, I would pray again, asking God to change him.”

She further explained, “One day, and some might ask ‘How could you do that?’ but I cursed at my son. My son, like me, wasn’t going to school. So I prepared food and shouted, ‘You xx, come down and eat, you xx.’ My son sat at the table, and I handed him a cup of water, saying, ‘You stupid xx, you’re a wretched xx.’ But then a thought struck me: ‘Should I make your son as you’ve described?’ That thought pierced me.”

Lee Seong-mi said, “It was terrifying. My son would have become like a mad dog. I changed that day. I realized I had been living wrongly and completely turned around to apologize to my son, saying, ‘I’m sorry, I was wrong.’ However, my son was scared. He became anxious because the mother who used to curse suddenly stopped. He was nervous, not knowing when the ticking time bomb would explode.”

She added, “When I stopped cursing, he asked why. I explained the process I went through, and he cried for a long time about the change in his mom. As we recovered and became closer, we returned to Korea after that experience in Canada.”

Meanwhile, in 1989, Lee Seong-mi had a son as a single mother, the child of singer Kim Hak-rae, and raised him alone. Later, she married her then-journalist husband, formalized her son’s registration, and had two daughters together.
