“I won’t forget it” Yuri, Seohyun, Im Siwan, Kang Seungyoon, ‘Concept-dol’ of Liberation Day giraffe

On August 15, National Liberation Day, various stars posted photos of the Taegeukgi on their social media accounts. Especially, idol stars in the K-pop scene, known for their strong influence both domestically and internationally, emphasized the significance of National Liberation Day, bringing touch to netizens.

In the girl group Girls’ Generation, Yuri and Seohyun shared posts on the meaning of National Liberation Day on their SNS. Yuri posted actual photo materials from the time of liberation with the caption ‘National Liberation Day of Korea’. Seohyun also shared a photo of the Baekbeom Kim Koo Memorial Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, with a message saying, “Because of the independence activists, the Republic of Korea exists today. We will cherish our proud history and the spirit of our pioneers, and pass them on. Long live the independence of Korea.”

Former Secret member Jun Hyo-seong shared a beautiful illustration of the Taegeukgi in both color and black-and-white versions, saying, “The day we regained the light on the 79th anniversary. Idol group EXID member Solji and I.O.I, Weki Meki member Choi Yoo-jung posted photos from the performance wall of the musical ‘Hero,’ which tells the story of Doctor Ahn Jung-Geun. In particular, former member of The Empires of the Sun, actor Lim Si-wan, participated in ‘815 Run’ led by senior singer Shea. Kang Seung-yoon’s posting of the Taegeukgi on national holidays is not a first. He even garnered fans’ responses by adjusting his online Taegeukgi images according to the commemorative days such as the five major national holidays including National Liberation Day, and lowering the Taegeukgi on days of mourning such as Memorial Day.

B1A4’s Shinwoo, EXID’s Eli, GOT7’s JB and Youngjae, former member of Wanna One Yoon Ji-sung, and others also shared Taegeukgi images to inform fans about National Liberation Day. Moreover, the idol groups ACE and P1Harmony added meaning to National Liberation Day by posting the Taegeukgi online through their official SNS accounts.
