On July 31, Jeong Anji of Sports Chosun reported that choreographer Yoon Hye-jin shared an update about her daughter, Ji-on, who is diligently preparing for her entrance exams for a music-focused junior high school, known as “Yejung” in Korea. A video titled “Ji-on’s Summer Routine: Pickup, Hanging Out with High School Friends, Shopping, Exercising, Running” was uploaded on the YouTube channel ‘Yoon Hye-jin’s What See TV,’ showcasing these activities.
Yoon Hye-jin mentioned that this is Ji-on’s first attempt at something like this in her 13 years of life. Both Ji-on and Yoon Hye-jin are experiencing new routines of studying and riding together, which has been a surprising journey for them. It’s revealed that Ji-on is highly motivated to attend Yejung, leading her to study hard and even improve her grades significantly. Yoon Hye-jin acknowledged her daughter’s self-motivation once she set a clear and urgent goal.
Reflecting on her educational philosophy, Yoon Hye-jin shared that her belief was to let children play freely for the first ten years of their lives, aiming to avoid pushing children into unwanted activities from an early age. Although she notes the pressure from the surrounding environment to follow a different path, she believes that her approach of not forcing Ji-on could be a consideration for other parents as well.
Despite her daughter’s strenuous preparation for the exams, Yoon Hye-jin expressed that even if Ji-on doesn’t pass, it’s okay because she has witnessed her daughter’s hard work and determination. Ji-on is currently a sixth grader majoring in vocal music and has recently been awarded a special prize for her efforts.
Previously in March, Yoon Hye-jin spoke with Ji-on after a vocal lesson, playfully suggesting that Ji-on could give up on the Yejung entrance exams if it proved too difficult, to which Ji-on responded confidently, accepting the challenges as part of the path she chose. Yoon Hye-jin praised Ji-on’s determination, encouraging her to withstand the effort, foreseeing great personal growth from the experience.
