Ko Young-wook, a former member of the group Rula who carries the dishonor of being the first celebrity to wear an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, has opened a YouTube channel. Ko Young-wook stated on a social networking service (SNS) X (formerly Twitter) on the 5th, “I have lived a shameful life. Feeling like I am getting old and feeble at home, I am starting YouTube aimlessly to escape from my listless daily life.” Along with this, Ko Young-wook shared the YouTube channel ‘GO! Young-wook’ and posted a video of his dog listening to his music at home as the first video.

After being released following multiple instances of minor sexual offenses, Ko Young-wook attempted to return to online activities by opening an Instagram account in 2020, but the account was closed due to reports. At that time, Ko Young-wook announced, “I now want to live cautiously and communicate with the world,” but a few days later he said, “My Instagram account has been closed. Thank you to those who showed interest, even if briefly.” This YouTube account opening comes approximately 4 years after the failure of the Instagram account opening, marking a return to communication. Ko Young-wook was convicted in 2013 of sexual assault and forced indecency against 3 minors, receiving a 2-year, 6-month prison sentence along with 3 years of electronic monitoring. He served his sentence at Anyang Correctional Institution and Namboo Correctional Institution before being released in July 2015.
