An investigation by the police into BTS member Suga (real name Min Yoongi, 31) for riding an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol was confirmed through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
In CCTV footage obtained by Donga Ilbo on the 14th, Suga can be seen riding an electric scooter on the street. Around 11:10 PM on the 6th, he lost balance and fell while making a left turn at the entrance of Nine One Hannam in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, where three police officers from the Special Police Unit were patrolling. The police approached Suga, who was picking up his helmet that had fallen off, and after confirming his intoxication, they conducted a breathalyzer test. The results showed Suga’s blood alcohol level at 0.227%, which is grounds for license cancellation.
According to the police, Suga had dinner with friends at a restaurant near Hannam Intersection around 9 PM, drank alcohol, and then moved to a nearby personal studio to continue drinking. Later, around 11 PM, he rode his electric scooter from the studio back home. The studio was confirmed to be about 500 meters away from Nine One Hannam.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that the person seen in a video circulating on some broadcasts riding an electric scooter on the road was not actually Suga. In the video, the scooter was seen heading towards Namsan from the opposite side of Nine One Hannam, while Suga returned home on the side where Nine One Hannam is located. Reports of Suga crashing into a boundary stone and falling were also found to be inaccurate.
