“Brain nerve paralysis” Kim Yoon-ah’s unfortunate update… Hospitalized again due to congenital immunodeficiency

[Sports Chosun Reporter Kim So-hee] Kim Yoon-ah, the vocalist of Jaurim, has publicly shared her current battle with a congenital immune deficiency.

On the 18th, Kim Yoon-ah revealed her condition by posting a photo from a hospital with the caption “March 14, 2025, Auxiliary Battery Day.”

In the photo, Kim Yoon-ah is shown lying on a hospital bed receiving an IV treatment. She humorously referred to the treatment process as “Auxiliary Battery Day,” highlighting her positive and cheerful approach to the situation.

Previously, Kim Yoon-ah had revealed her battle with cerebral palsy on the YouTube channel “Sebasi Lecture” last year.

She shared, “After creating Jaurim’s 8th studio album in 2011, my weakened immune system led to cerebral palsy. I am a congenital immune deficiency patient, so I still receive treatment every month. At that time, cerebral palsy affected my senses of smell, taste, hearing, pain, temperature, and even impacted the muscles from my face to my upper body and the vagus nerve.”

Kim added, “Due to the after-effects of the paralysis, some functions have not fully recovered. In fact, I still have a slight speech disorder, which I manage with effort. Fortunately, my hearing and muscles have recovered to a degree that allows me to work again, but the experience led me to consider that each project might be my last.”

In September last year, on SBS’s “Dongsang Imong Season 2 – You Are My Destiny,” she disclosed her congenital immune deficiency, saying, “I have low immunoglobulin levels, requiring monthly immunoglobulin injections (IVIG) to boost my immunity using antibodies from healthy adults.”

She further stated, “Because of my chronic illness, my doctor emphasized the importance of getting enough sleep, warning that someone with a weak immune system like mine could be severely affected otherwise. Indeed, I experienced cerebral palsy after a period of inadequate rest and overwhelming work.”

Meanwhile, Kim Yoon-ah married dentist Kim Hyung-kyu in 2006, and they have a son together.
